Did you know there’s a forest in Minnesota that is shaped just like our state? It’s true! A few years ago, someone discovered the forest while tinkering with Google Earth. As people became interested in the trees and their mysterious origin, more details came to light. Here’s what we know today:

Turns out, this patch of state-shaped woods has been around for at least 25 years. According to City Pages, it was created by a DNR forester with just a compass and a map. The shape was created by cutting away a section of trees shaped like Minnesota. Over time, the trees grew back into the shape of our state.
Luckily for us, we can use Google Earth to view it.

The forest is close to the Canadian border near Faunce Forest Road SW in Williams, Minnesota. Check it out on Google Earth here.
