The Twin Cities get a lot of attention for their awesome food scenes. It seems like every week a new restaurant opens up featuring a talented chef’s unique creations. But what about all the fantastic small town restaurants in Greater Minnesota? There are plenty to choose from, but Brass Rail in Grandy is especially worth the journey.
One of the best parts of exploring Minnesota off the beaten path is that you get to make your way through the small towns along the journey. The easiest way to get to Brass Rail is to take Highway 65. You'll pass through Cambridge from the south or Braham from the north. Both are small towns with cute Main Streets that will round out your day perfectly.
Grandy itself may not look like much, but don't let looks fool you. This tiny unincorporated community is often bustling when Brass Rail is open. More than once, I've driven past and found a herd of motorcycles parked out front. What's all the fuss about? Their world-famous broasted chicken.

The restaurant is open Sunday-Thursday 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Friday-Saturday 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. That should be plenty of time to make the trek out to sample the chicken for yourself.

Opened back in 1969, the Brass Rail has been a mainstay in the community for nearly 50 years. There have been plenty of changes, but one thing has stayed the same: delicious chicken.
