There are plenty of spooky places in Georgia to visit. It should be no surprise that pretty much every haunted place in Georgia is located in Savannah–one of the most haunted places in America! No matter where you go in Savannah, you’re likely to find a spooky haunted house. Check out these 12 haunted places in Georgia that will send chills down your spine.
This house was home to two suicides--one of the wife of Francis Sorrell, and the other of his slave mistress. Some even say that letters and journals tell of the slave being murdered to keep the affair under wraps. Either way, people claim to see shadowy apparitions and the "Lady in White" who disapproves of the ghost tours.
A really popular haunted place in Savannah is The Pirate's House. It was originally a sailor's pub and home to the famed captain of "Treasure's Island."
Madison Square was the site of a Revolutionary battle where British soldiers were eventually buried in the square. Bodies of the soldiers have been found while digging holes for basements, and shadowy figures have been found lurking around the square.
Pictured is Gracie Watson, was once a real little girl who died of pneumonia in 1889 two days before Easter. In 1890 a sculptor by the name of John Walz carved this statue from a photograph of the little girl.The statue has since been moved, but this cemetery is the sight of many hauntings and is considered to be one of the most haunted places in the US.
This is actually the oldest hospital in Georgia. It was founded in 1808 as a poor house and seaman's hospital. It was also seen as an insane asylum and a Union hospital. Needless to say, it has seen countless deaths and misery. (Scary place to be after nightfall!)
This is another place that can be seen on a Savannah ghost tour. This haunted house was built on top of one of the first burial grounds in Savannah, and while there are many ghostly stories about this house, most of them are not true.
This old pink house is home to the ghost of Builder General Habersham. He is said to be seen wearing a general's uniform, haunting the woman's washroom and the dining room.
One of the most popular quirks about this place is that sometimes it is impossible to take a visible photo of the place-- but when people leave, their cameras all work fine. Others see a ghostly little girl wandering around.
This 1851 hotel is one of the oldest in Savannah. It is the place of many ghostly sightings. It was once a Civil War Hospital in which an epidemic of Yellow Fever ravaged the place. There was also a rumor that amputated limbs of soldiers were found beneath the floor boards.
Built originally in 1892 for William Kehoe, this beautiful Queen Anne style mansion is home to quite a few hauntings. Sightings of children ghosts have been seen running around, as well as a lady who is known as a kind and sweet person that strokes visitors' cheeks.
