We pass by tons of buildings every day, but every once in awhile you come across one designed by a true artist. We even boast some magnificent Castles in Washington ! Of course, there’s not enough time to list all of the beautiful structures in our state, but here are 15 that are seriously impressive:
1. Seattle Public Library
Escape in a great novel here downtown, or just stand out front and be amazed!
2. The Hastings Building, Port Townsend
According to their website, this structure is located in the Historic Commercial District in Port Townsend, and has three floors which are currently planned for a full historic rehabilitation as part of the Hastings Building/Hastings Landing Project.
3. Columbia River Washington Temple, Richland
A peaceful temple located in the tri-cities.
4. Union Station, Tacoma
While you're in the area, be sure to also stop by the Museum of Glass or Tacoma Dome for more architectural splendor.
5. Gamwell Home, Bellingham
Roland G. Gamwell made a fortune from the real estate boom in the late 1800s and hired two innovative architects to meticulously build his home.
6. Saint Spiridon Orthodox Cathedral, South Lake Union
You'll likely do a double-take of this unique cathedral in Seattle.
7. Patsy Clark Mansion, Spokane
Originally designed in 1897 for a mining millionaire, this mansion has served as a restaurant for many years. It was eventually bought by a law firm, though it is available for private events, like receptions, small luncheons, dinner parties or weddings.
8. Jefferson County Courthouse
This Romanesque-style establishment was built in the 1890s in Port Townsend.
9. Old Washington Capitol, Olympia
The Capitol moved out in 1928, and the current property has served as an office for the Superintendent of Public Instruction.
10. Suzzallo Library
This library offers great reads on the University of Washington campus!
11. A charming Victorian house spotted in Port Townsend.
There are so many elegant structures in this city in Jefferson County!
12. Walla Walla Community College
This isn't your typical community college facility on the exterior, but you'll find amazing educational programs offered inside.
13. Capitol Theatre, Yakima
Also known as Lowe State Theatre, this performing arts venue puts on some fabulous shows!
14. Garfield County Courthouse, Pomeroy
This 1901 Victorian-style building in Eastern Washington was designed by the brilliant architect, Charles Burggraf.
15. Experience Music Project (EMP) Museum, Queen Anne
