From the barrier islands to the numerous lakes, rivers and creeks that fill the state, Mississippians are lucky enough to have access to some beautiful, sparkling bodies of water. When it comes to the bluest water in the state, Pickwick Lake and Blue Springs are usually the first places that come to mind, but there’s another great spot that shouldn’t be ignored – Sardis Lake. Part of a 98,000-acre recreation area, the lake’s magnificent blue waters are easy to access and completely unforgettable.
Visit Sardis Lake Recreation Area and you’ll have access to some of the top recreational facilities in the entire nation. Whether you head to Sardis for a day outing or overnight camping trip, there are a ton of activities to fill your time.
Explore the recreation area and you’ll find campgrounds, picnic areas with grills, pavilions, playgrounds, nature trails and the stunningly beautiful Sardis Lake.
Since being built, the dazzling lake has attracted both residents and tourists. The pristine blue water is not only gorgeous but perfect for boating and water sports, fishing, and swimming.
The recreation area has four beaches; three on the lower lake and one on the upper lake. All of the beaches feature pristine white sand and access to inviting blue waters.
Full of largemouth bass, crappie and catfish, the lake’s waters are known for providing some of the best fishing in the southeast. Spend an afternoon with a pole-in-hand while taking in some of the most spectacular scenery in the state.
