With over 60 options to choose from, this classic diner is the perfect place to treat yourself and beat the California heat. Since 1965, this beloved Northern California drive-up eatery has been serving up tasty treats and nostalgia in equal measure.

Our favorite milkshake flavor is brownie (it's so so good!). But listen to some of these other fantastic flavors you won't find elsewhere: butter pecan, horchata, s'mores, cotton candy, butterscotch, to name a few.

You can't go wrong with "The Big Dude"-- a two-patty burger that will satisfy any appetite. Or select one of their sandwiches, hot dogs, or corn dogs. They have tacos, too!

It was started by Lewis, known as "dude," and Viola McCaslin. They passed the business to their son in the mid-'70s. When Ron died in 2015, his daughter Roxanne took over Dude's.

Today, Redding locals flock to Dude's for their delicious burgers, fries, and milkshakes that are served with a side of nostalgia.

It's not uncommon to see vintage car collectors meeting at this 1960s-style spot.
When you dine at Dude's, you can sit in your car like they would in the '50s and '60s when these drive-in restaurants first started. Or, you can take a seat at one of the tables inside or outside of the restaurant.

If the restaurant is crowded, take a 4 minute drive south to Enterprise Park where you can have a picnic or eat Dude's delicious food at one of the picnic tables. This is a good option if you have kiddos with you, since Enterprise Park has a great playground.
But we hope you can linger for a bit at this historic drive-in eatery.
