While we’re known as the Pine Tree State, when spring arrives and all the beautiful flowers bloom, we could be mistaken as the Wildflower State. Swaths of color create a lovely contrast to the lush green trees and there are few things better than taking a spring road trip to see some of the most gorgeous flowers in Maine. This six-hour drive will fill your senses and you’ll want to make a weekend of it so you can enjoy each destination to the fullest.
1. Little River Flower Farm

Let’s start our adventure in the charming town of Buxton at Little River Flower Farm where fields of flowers await. This bucolic farm has over 7,000 perennial and annual flowers, and in the latter half of the year, it becomes a you-pick farm! Also, check out the restored 1815 farmhouse while you're here!
Next up, take a stroll through the floral paradise that is the McLaughlin Garden & Homestead. These breathtaking flower displays are a joy to behold and you’ll see beauty everywhere you look. This place started way back in 1936!
Lavender is such a soothing and refreshing scent and the blooms are such a lovely sight. Visiting Moore Manor Lavender is a wonderful way to de-stress and feel a serene sense of relaxation while being surrounded by breathtaking beauty. You can take home some lavender products to bring the scent home with you.
The tiny and lovely town of Hermon is home to a hidden gem called Ecotat Gardens & Arboretum, which has 88 acres of gardens and trails to explore. You’ll be surrounded by vivid blooms in every direction. There’s such a vast variety that you’ll be drawn to explore further and see as many as you can. It’s an excellent spot for photography and is a joy to stroll around.
This splendid park is named as a butterfly park, but what brings the butterflies? Flowers! Charlotte Rhoades Butterfly Park is such a splendid place to visit where bright blooms and pretty butterflies make you feel like you’ve stepped into a slice of heaven.
Located within the breathtaking Acadia National Park is a stunning hiking trail that comes alive with wildflowers every spring. The Jesup and Hemlock Loop Trail is a fantastic place to get some hiking in and see an abundance of colorful wildflowers. It’s a short and easy trail that will allow you to focus on the flowers and you’ll want to bring the whole family.
