Anyone lucky enough to have a dachshund in their lives knows there’s no other breed like these fiercely loyal, absolutely adorable hot dogs. Those of us who have loved a doxie – mine was Rika, a rescue who blossomed from a scared pup who’d been abused to a loving girl to those she deemed worthy (you could win her over, at least temporarily, with a fry) – will never be the same again. Sometimes those little weiner dogs inspire us in ways we might never have imagined. This unique restaurant in Hermann, Missouri is a prime example of that.
A stroll through Hermann will almost certainly lead past Doxie Slush, a quaint spot with a personality as big as the dachshunds who inspired this unique restaurant.
Gemma and Twix, two adorable weiner dogs, inspired Nicolas, a chef, and Brittany Renfro to start Doxie Slush, and it's quite fitting that they did so in Hermann, a German town. (Doxies, after all, are of German descent.)
Doxie Slush promises a chill vibe, where you can kick back and enjoy a bite and one of its frozen cocktails. While there's plenty of seating indoors, you might want to...
Any time's a good time for a frozen cocktail, and Doxie serves some of the best in town. The day's menu features a dozen made-from-scratch cocktails with such flavors as pineapple bourbon sour and strawberry amaretto shortcake.
Even if you're not in the mood for a drink (there are non-alcoholic slushes and other options on the menu), you'll find something scrumptious on the menu that is described as "seafood and coastal-inspired."
