One of my favorite things about Iowa is how wide open it feels at times. You can leave one of the big cities like Iowa City, travel less than half an hour, and find yourself at a bucolic farm in the countryside. That’s the case with Walker Homestead Farm and Winery, located on the outskirts of Iowa City and serving up some of Iowa’s best wine amid a beautiful setting. But that’s not the biggest draw here – this charming farm is home to what might be the best farm-to-table dinner in Iowa, celebrating local produce and seasonal ingredients. But there’s a catch – the beloved dinner tradition only takes place once a week on Thursday night, making it one of the toughest reservations in town to score.
