Sure, Labor Day is around the corner but the temperature still says summer outside in Washington DC so there’s no need to hop on the back to school shopping just yet! Before fall kicks in stop by this swimming hole near Washington DC and make your summer epic!
Beaver Dam Swimming Club is located in Cockeysville, Maryland, about 90 minutes outside of Washington DC.
It is a flooded marble quarry that has been used as a swimming hole since the 1930s.
Beaver Dam covers about 30 acres of land and has tons of activities for water fun that everyone will love.
The rope swing is by far the most popular attraction. High atop a platform, thrill seekers will love launching off into the quarry below.
There are also several other floating platforms and a diving board for swimming fun.
The quarry is about 40’ deep and is monitored by a lifeguard but it’s mostly recommended for strong swimmers or for parents to swim with their children if they’re not strong swimmers yet.
There are two pools at Beaver Dam Swimming Club that are perfect for little ones or for breaks from swimming in the quarry.
There’s also a volleyball and basketball court for those more interested in hanging out on the land.
If you’re making a day of it, you can bring food and snacks. Beaver Dam has 150 picnic tables and 50 grills available for its guests. Or you can bring your own grill. Their is also a snack bar where they serve pizza, hamburgers, chicken fingers, fries and other snacks.
Beaver Dam is an amazing summer destination that you can do for a great price. Admission costs $12 for children age 12 and under and $15-$17 for adults, depending on the day.
