Though Jesse James funeral was documented by a funeral home in St. Joseph, Missouri, many still believe the body in the casket was not his. The story goes that Jesse James was shot by his house guests, Bob and Charley Ford, who had conspired with Missouri Governor Thomas T. Crittenden. Conspiracy theorists believe James actually faked his own death and ran away to Texas where he lived the rest of his long life under the alias James Courtney.
