Katie Lawrence is a Southeast Texas native who graduated 18th in her high school class with a GPA of 4.25. She attended college in the Houston area and began writing for OnlyInYourState in 2015.
Today, Katie writes, edits, and performs several other tasks for OnlyInYourState and has never been more passionate about a job before. Outside of work, you can likely find her curled up on with a hot cup of coffee, practicing yoga, baking, or exploring the beautiful Lone Star State (in particular, the vast and mystical West Texas desert).
There are lots of year-round campgrounds in Texas, but some of them have far more amenities than others. One of my favorites is Thousand Trails Colorado River, located in the Houston area. Convenient for travelers and jam-packed with activities for all ages to enjoy, this sprawling campground is a haven for RV and tent campers alike (it also offers cabins!). Whether you use it as a stopping point on a road trip or as your final destination, Thousand Trails promises an unforgettable overnight stay.
Visit the Thousand Trails website or the Thousand Trails Facebook page for more information about the campground, including current availability.
Have you ever camped at Thousand Trails? What are your favorite year-round campgrounds in Texas? Tell us in the comments! If you’ll be staying at Thousand Trails as part of a larger road trip, check out our road trip packing list for ideas about what to bring. For all your camping gear needs, it’s hard to beat REI.
