When somebody mentions Lenox, Massachusetts, what is the first thing that comes to mind? For many people (including myself), it is a vision of the talented Boston Symphony Orchestra playing beautiful music on warm summer nights at the Tanglewood Music Center. While this is an incredible event that I think everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime, the town of Lenox is also worth a visit even when the orchestra is not playing here. This cozy winter town in Massachusetts is particularly breathtaking in the winter months when blanketed with a fresh coat of snow.
Lenox is one of those small towns that just shouts “New England.” It is full of quaint streets, old churches, and historic buildings.
The town has a cute downtown area that is a peaceful place for a winter stroll. Browse the aisles at one of the many specialty stores and then grab a drink or a bite to eat at a cozy cafe or restaurant.
The Bookstore and Get Lit Wine Bar is the perfect place to stop in on a cold day. Discover a good read at this longstanding local bookstore and indulge in a glass of vino before heading back out into the cold.
The store has a wide variety of books, including children’s stories and some hard-to-find titles.

Lenox also has its share of wonderful little art galleries including the Art and Chocolate Gallery. This unique shop has some beautiful jewelry, local crafts and artwork, and yes, delicious chocolate.
Ventfort Hall Mansion and Gilded Age Museum is another Lenox attraction that you won’t want to miss. You can take a tour or attend a festive event at this majestic 1893 mansion. You can even enjoy tea or lunch here.
The ranch offers a variety of packages which include spa treatments, fitness classes, and mind-body experiences.
Canyon Ranch
offers special winter wellness retreats where guests can participate in outdoor activities and enjoy the beautiful property as it transforms into a snowy winter wonderland.
Have you taken a winter trip to Lenox? If so, what is your favorite place to visit? For more information about this cozy town visit the Lenox Chamber Visitor Center website and Visit Lenox Facebook page. Stockbridge and North Adams are two other Berkshire towns that also make great getaways.
