This little guy is a Dilophosaurus.
He was one of the dinosaurs that lived in the Connecticut region long before Connecticut was an actual place. And you'll see him proudly on display for his contribution to the museum. He and the Eubrontes, a likely relative, left behind a lot of footprints.
And you can see those tracks for yourself at the Dinosaur State Park!
Come celebrate the 50th anniversary of the discovery of tracks in Rocky Hill, Connecticut by seeing them in person! The tracks were accidentally uncovered during excavation for a new state building, but are now preserved in the dome for your viewing pleasure. With 2,000 tracks discovered, this is one of the largest dinosaur track sites in all of North America!
This park is expansive on the outside as well.
The surrounding land consists of more than two miles of trails, covering a variety of habitats. A red maple swamp and meadows are just the beginning! There's also a traprock ridge, showcasing broken pieces of basaltic rock that once flowed over Connecticut as hot lava.
Outdoor explorers will love this place!
There will be special events and activities all year, in recognition of the fiftieth anniversary, so check the calendar before you visit! Take the bridge over the swamp and stop by the Arboretum for a look at the plant families that lived beside the dinosaurs.
