My name is Chris Dodge and I live right here in the great state of Tennessee. My family and I are full adventurers filled with passion to see the amazing things our state has to offer. We are avid hikers and have explored many different places in Tennessee and beyond but we are always thankful to be living in such a glorious state.
Without a doubt, the Smoky Mountain region is my favorite place in Tennessee. Not only do you have the towering and majestic mountains, but the surrounding towns offer so much to see and do. There is a distinct culture with long-standing traditions and an ongoing story I find irresistible. Harking back to the early years of the burgeoning towns around our national park, there’s a story that inspired one of my favorite restaurants. One man’s life brought forth the muse needed to create Crockett’s Breakfast Camp in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
Sitting within walking distance from the Great Smoky Mountains is Crockett’s Breakfast Camp in Gatlinburg. The large structure is certainly eye-catching with an old-time Appalachian feel to it. The exterior alone lures you in to take a closer look.
Outside you will find a statue of a man who inspired it all, David C. “Crockett” Maple. He was a family man, a frontiersman, an honored soldier, and a server of the community.
Crockett and his wife ran a small supply store at the base of Mount LeConte and using his skills as a woodsman, he helped many individuals traverse the mountains of Tennessee. However, after being stranded in the wilderness after a blizzard, he suffered from frostbite so severe, both legs had to be amputated. In his determination, he crafted wooded legs and maneuvered around on canes. This heroic man's efforts and relentless selflessness stand as an inspiration to us all and led to the creation of this restaurant.

Massive portions abound at this breakfast place; if you are hungry, then one of the Huntcamp Skillets is for you. Heaping piles of breakfast favorites like sausage, bacon, eggs, ham, and so much more are served in a warm skillet.
But really, you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, from the thick and filling waffles to savory dishes with unique flavors you can't find anywhere else.
The number one item on the menu by far is their famous cinnamon rolls. These massive rolls are flavorful and will satisfy from the first bite to the last crumb.
