While I am all in with the concept of nature belonging to everyone, too much chatter can detract from an idyllic scene. At Buck’s Pocket, you’ll have all the dazzling views of fall color and peace to ponder to your heart’s content.

Buck’s Pocket is located in Grove Oak, Alabama, just northeast of Lake Guntersville State Park. While it’s not a complete secret, the park’s location off busy routes and away from any of our larger cities keeps it quieter than other places.

The park's most popular trail is the Point Rock Trail, which leads to the Jim Lynn Overlook.

Keep your eyes on the prize as you tackle the trail because it does take some work. Wear durable hiking shoes for a moderately challenging, 2.3-mile, out-and-back trail.
