This heartbreaking incident claimed the lives of five children and left 30 others wounded, including a teacher named Janet Geng. The trauma of that day sparked a vision within Janet– a vision to create a sanctuary in Stockton where children could learn, play, and thrive without fear. In March of 1990, a group of community leaders decided to make this dream come to life.
