When you think of bodies of water to spend your time at in Utah, the Jordan River typically isn’t the first to come to mind. But now, thanks to a new regional park, it will. Pioneer Crossing Regional Park is a new park located on the banks of the river in West Valley City, Utah. It’s a place where you can bring the entire family for a day next to the water with playgrounds, a fishing pier, walking paths, and more.
Pioneer Crossing Regional Park is a 25-acre park with something for every member of the family. It is designed to help visitors enjoy the river and its ecosystem and spend a little time outdoors.
There is also a fishing pier where you can spend some time right along the river. But one of the most unique features of this Utah park — the adaptive boat ramp.
The boat ramp allows all people to enjoy time on the river while in a kayak, paddleboard, canoe, etc. This is the first adaptive boat ramp along the Jordan River.
If you want to explore the park a little, take a walk along the 14-foot-wide trails. These trails are perfect for walking, running, and even viewing wildlife.
The location of this new park is also significant as it is the location where the pioneers crossed west of the Jordan River. It gives this new Utah park even more meaning.
And while there is already quite a bit to see and do at Pioneer Crossing Regional Park, other communities along the river are working to build similar destinations, providing even more opportunities to enjoy and utilize the Jordan River.
Whether you come and spend an entire day or you just stay for just a few minutes, you’ll quickly discover that Pioneer Crossing Regional Park is a great way to spend time on the Jordan River. It is quickly becoming our favorite hidden gem in Salt Lake County.
