The Scenic Drive In New Jersey That Runs Straight Through The Charming Small Town Of Whiting
New Jersey is a small state, but it’s amazing how much open space there is when you know where to find it. Some of the best spots in the Garden State for quiet relaxation are county roads, and one of my favorites is County Route 539. Taking you through the Pine Barrens in South Jersey, it’s often referred to as New Jersey’s loneliest road. It can get eerie at night, sure, but during the day it’s uniquely peaceful. Heading from Cranbury to Tuckerton, it passes through many laid-back enclaves along the way – including Whiting. Whiting is an unincorporated community with a lot of small town charm, and it’s worth a stop. Some of the best things to do in Whiting, NJ include a meal at an old-school Italian restaurant and a visit to one of the state’s most unique parks.
Have you taken County Route 539 for a peaceful drive? What are your favorite things to do in Whiting, NJ? Tell us in the comments section!
