I’m all about a classic burger, but there’s something to be said about unique, innovative flavor combinations, as well. The ice cream burgers from Mark’s Outing in San Antonio may sound strange at first, but the sweet-and-salty combination will have your taste buds singing with joy after the first bite. If you haven’t tried one, consider this your sign. I promise you won’t be disappointed!
Next time you find yourself in San Antonio, don't leave town without grabbing a bite at Mark's Outing.
This award-winning eatery is known all over Texas for its big, juicy, mouthwatering burgers served up in a no-frills atmosphere where every customer is made to feel like family.
Over a dozen different burger options grace the menu, ranging from a classic cheeseburger (also available in a one-pound version for the really hungry folks!) to BBQ brisket, chili, turkey, and three kinds of veggie burgers.
Enjoy breakfast all day with Mark's breakfast burger, complete with crispy bacon, American cheese, an egg cooked your way, and all the other usual suspects.
Speaking of bacon, you'll see it on several of the burgers here. The Heisman, for example, combines smoked bacon with cheddar cheese and sliced avocado for a flavor explosion you won't soon forget.
It features deep-fried ice cream, a fresh ground beef patty, green leaf lettuce, juicy tomatoes, pickles, red onions, mayo, and mustard on a toasted buttered bun.
On paper, those ingredients don't sound like they would play well together, but all it takes is one bite to shatter your preconceived notions.
The sweet, creamy ice cream pairs perfectly with the salty cheese, tangy red onion, and umami beef, and I guarantee you'll never want to eat a burger without ice cream after sinking your teeth into this bad boy.
Not feeling a burger? Don't fret - Mark's also offers hot dogs, salads, sandwiches, wings, and fried fish plates.
No matter what you order, make it a full meal with the addition of French fries (or sweet potato, cheese, or chili cheese fries), onion rings, tater tots, fried mushrooms, a side salad, or beans.
If you go the tater tot route, I suggest upgrading to the "Crazy Tots," which are topped with beans, chili, nacho cheese, jalapenos, and pico. They'll rock your world!
