While there are many wonderful towns along the Pacific and Atlantic coasts, there are a great many inland coastal towns that rest on the shores of gorgeous lakes and rivers that are found throughout America. Kentucky is no exception. Grand Rivers is the gateway to the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area and has two coasts, one on each side of town! Welcome to Grand Rivers, the best coastal town in Kentucky.
Grand Rivers is a tiny, charming town that’s a great home base from which to explore the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area. With access to both lakes and no shortage of great food and wonderful places to stay as well as lush, green nature throughout, it’s a perfect getaway.
This settlement became officially incorporated in 1980 and was originally intended to be a major steel town. That did not come to fruition, and Grand Rivers was able to maintain its bucolic beauty and is now an idyllic town nestled between Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley.
Of course, the main attraction is the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area and many people’s first glimpse of these lovely waters is at Lighthouse Landing. This picturesque spot is home to a resort and marina from which you can launch your adventures.
A favorite local attraction is Badgett Playhouse where people flock for live music. There are several regular performances that focus on decades like the '60s, '70s, and '80s as well as tributes to the greats like Elvis Presley and Dolly Parton.
Patti’s 1880s Settlement brings visitors from all over the state to enjoy strolling around the quaint shops and seeing the beautiful decorations which include old-fashioned artifacts.
Patti’s is also the perfect place to grab a bite to eat and is mostly known for its massive and scrumptious pork chops, sweet meringue pies piled high, and whimsical decor.
When you’re ready to rest up to prepare for even more adventures, nothing beats a lakeside condo at Green Turtle Bay Resort & Marina. While they may look similar on the outside, each one is uniquely and lovingly decorated on the inside for a pleasing and comfortable stay.
