What This Drone Footage Captured At This Abandoned Missouri Theme Park Is Truly Grim
In its heyday, Celebration City in Branson was filled with laughing families making happy memories. The kitschy park, which opened in 1999, was meant to be the nighttime sister park to Silver Dollar City, opening in the afternoon and closing each night after a fireworks show. It included quintessential Americana-themed areas, including Route 66 and a 1920s boardwalk. From the beginning, the theme park struggled.
In 2008, even though a wooden roller coaster, flume ride and updated fireworks show were just added, it was announced that the park would not be reopening in 2009.
Celebration City theme park in Branson is now empty and eerie – no laughter, no cotton candy and definitely no fireworks. Take a look at this drone footage:
