Whether you say “tuh-may-toe” or “tuh-mah-toe”, there’s no debating that the Jacksonville Tomato Fest is a blast for all who attend. Held on the 2nd Saturday of June every year, this small-town Texas festival features food, arts and crafts, prizes, and – of course – all things tomato-related. Just wait until you try some of Jacksonville’s world-famous salsa!
If you love tomatoes, you're in good company in Jacksonville, Texas - especially on the 2nd Saturday in June of each year. This small town in Cherokee County is known for having some of the best tomatoes on earth, and it hosts the annual Tomato Fest to celebrate the fruit.
A Jacksonville tradition for nearly four decades, the festival turns the streets of downtown into a full-blown tomato extravaganza. This year's festival is being held on Saturday, June 10, 2023 from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Awards are given out for the best salsa, best homegrown tomato, and several other competitions. Perhaps you'll enter into the running for the chance to win it all?
There are also several after-hours events, including a street dance with live music and a Bloody Mary contest. Additionally, the week leading up to the Tomato Fest is brimming with activities for all ages, from a fishing tournament to a Mr. and Mrs. Tomato Fest pageant.
Whatever you do, don't forget your souvenirs! Guests receive a T-shirt and some world-famous Jacksonville salsa. I'll take mine overtop of scrambled eggs, please and thank you!
All contest entries must be submitted prior to the day of the festival. For more information about the Jacksonville Tomato Fest, including a full schedule of events, please visit the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce website or Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce Facebook page.
