Georgia is home to a lot of unique places as well as interesting things to do. We are constantly in an exploratory mindset, searching for spots in Georgia that we can pass along to you, in hopes to create a memorable experience you’ll never forget. (Like when we recently wrote about This One Hike in Georgia That’ll Make You Feel Like a Hero.) So with that said, we’ve created a list of some of the more unusual, once-in-a-lifetime adventures that you can only have in our beautiful state. Take a look:
Dubbed one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the state, people flock to this park to get a glimpse of nature at its best. It’s the type of adventure that you can bring your whole family, and climb the staircase to capture the true beauty of the falls.
Cloudland Canyon State Park is one of the favorites for Georgia residents. There are so many different adventures you can embark on, but this one may be the most fascinating of all. Caving through the deep, dark tunnels, you’ll get dirty, see some bats, and probably get dirty some more.

For the art adventurers in the state, this is the perfect day-trip for you. Howard Finster was a folk artist who began building a garden in Summerville in the early 1940s. Since then, the art has grown and developed, creating a one-of-a-kind garden from the man dubbed "the Andy Warhol of the South".

Cumberland Island is the perfect spot to bring the whole family, and explore the untapped resources together. Bring your camping gear, because there are plenty of places to set up and stay. Make sure you get in some shell hunting along the way, because the plethora of colors and kinds are like no other in the world.
There are people who come from miles around in order to fill up their jugs with natural spring water. If you’ve never tried natural spring water (no, not from the grocery store) then this is a must-try. The spring is located in Rolater Park, and we recommend bringing a few jugs to fill up. It’s refreshing, it’s clean, and it’s delicious.
Bring your family down to The Rock Ranch, where you can see firsthand how the settlers once lived. On the property, there are cow pastures, berries to be picked, and a family fun zone. However, the best part is that you’ll stay in one of their covered wagons overnight—truly a one-of-a-kind adventure.
When we say one-of-a-kind, we really mean it. There is no other view quite like the view from the vista atop Blood Mountain. You’ll be able to see for miles in every direction, and witness everything nature has to offer, especially the massive mountains of the Blue Ridge chain.

Tallulah Gorge State Park is a stunning natural spot, where the adventurer inside you will feel right at home. The Tallulah river flows through the rocky terrain, and carved an interestingly complex geological formation, which resulted in five incredible waterfalls. Only a few times a year do they release the dam waters, and boy, is that an experience to remember.

We absolutely recommend this train ride during the Fall, because you’ll be able to see just how the foliage changed in color. The open-air train ride itself is an adventure-of-a-lifetime. You'll travel through the state in a few vintage train cars, appreciating the finer parts of Georgia that perhaps you overlook every day.
We’ve written before about tubing down the Chattahoochee River, and it really is a one-of-a-kind experience. You can bring a cooler and some friends, and make the best of the hot summer sun by floating on down the cool, calm river. There are a few locations where you can catch the river, so make sure you check the website first!
Did you know that right on the outskirts of Atlanta there is a Drive-In movie theater? There aren't many of these left in the world. The Starlight Drive-In features new movies on outdoors screens, and is a fun experience for the whole family. Pack a picnic and catch a film the old-school way.
In Twin City, Georgia there is a fantastic, underrated park that is perfect for the adventurer in you. Not only can you wander through the beautiful tupelo and cypress trees, you can also paddleboard across the calm water. It’s not a strenuous paddle, but is perfect to get you out on the water for the afternoon.
Loggerhead sea turtles are some truly fascinating creatures, which is why learning about the journey of their nesting process is so unique. Not just anywhere can you participate in a sea turtle walk and potentially witness a turtle climbing the shores to lay her eggs.
