I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and have a deep love for photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world. Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream!
If you live in the Phoenix Metro area, chances are you’ve dined at a True Food Kitchen. But if not, you’ve at least heard of it. Known for its healthier cuisine and fresh ingredients, True Food Kitchen in Arizona was founded by Dr. Andrew Weil, a doctor of integrative medicine. Since the first location opened, the restaurant chain has expanded in both Arizona and several other states.
Dr. Andrew Weil (pictured on the left) is a famous integrative medicine doctor who created the anti-inflammatory food pyramid. This particular type of food pyramid suggests real food that's meant to enhance a person's health and wellness and reduce the risk of disease.
Founded by Dr. Weil, True Food Kitchen's first location opened in Phoenix in 2008. Due to its huge success, Dr. Weil and Fox Restaurant Concepts expanded locations around Arizona and other southwestern states.
The first time I went to the True Food Kitchen that opened up at the Scottsdale Quarter, I was amazed. Everything was made with fresh ingredients and was so flavorful. It quickly became one of my top places to dine.
Even the hand-crafted cocktails follow a set of healthy guidelines. The bar uses freshly pressed produce in its cocktails and syrups are made in-house.
Whether you have dietary restrictions or not, True Food Kitchen has something on the menu that will appeal to everyone. Find out for yourself why this has become such a popular and successful restaurant chain that originated in Arizona.
