There are many benefits of being in the city — the delicious places to eat, countless entertainment options, and so much more. But, there’s nothing like an escape into nature and when you explore the Red Cliffs Nature Center Trail, you don’t have to venture too far out of the city to get away. This 3-mile loop trail is located just outside of Boise, is not too difficult, and offers some pretty spectacular views from the top. It’s one hike in Boise that you’ll want to check out.
The Red Cliffs Nature Center Trail is one hike that needs to be experienced at least once. This trail takes you through the Camel’s Back and Hulls Gulch Reserve, just north of Boise.
You will find the trailhead just off North Sunset Peak Road in the Hulls Gulch Reserve.
This 3-mile loop trail is perfect for an afternoon adventure. You can complete this trail quickly if you are short on time or you can make this a slow trek if you wish to spend as much time outdoors as possible.
Overall, this trail is quite easy. You do have a bit of a climb but it’s not too difficult. If you find yourself struggling, simply stop and take a breath.
This is a popular hiking trail in Treasure Valley so you will likely see other hikers on the trail, especially if exploring on the weekends. You’ll also want to keep your eyes out for mountain bikers on your way. But, due to the traffic on this trail, your path is easy to follow.
Once you reach the top of your climb, stop and admire the views of Boise below you. On clear days, you can see for miles away. Pretty incredible, right?
With a short distance, well-maintained path, wildflowers, views, and more, this hiking trail near Boise is one you may find yourself on multiple times throughout the year.
