This gorgeous library is a book lover's dream. Read a book in a cozy chair next to a two-story window overlooking the towering redwoods. Or rest outside on the spacious deck.
In addition to Muir Woods National Monument, Mill Valley is also where you’ll find Mount Tamalpais.
If you’ve seen those stunning places, check out the Bothin Marsh Preserve. This tidal wetlands area is a six-minute drive from downtown Mill Valley.
There is a walkable pathway that runs through the marsh. This is a great place to bird watch since it is a rest stop for more than 400 species of migratory birds.
Bring hiking shoes to take the out-and-back Cascade Falls Trail.
Here’s some fun and random Mill Valley trivia: In 1969 composer and school teacher Rita Abrams wrote the hit song “Mill Valley” that became the city’s anthem.
No matter where you are in Northern California, Mill Valley can be reached in a day’s drive. This quiet city is a fun place to explore and makes a good home base to explore Muir Woods and San Francisco.
