There are so many things to do in Whiting, Indiana, that it’s the perfect destination for a weekend getaway.

Tucked along the southern shores of Lake Michigan just 20 minutes outside of Chicago is the small town of Whiting Indiana.

Established in 1889 as a railroad hub, this lakeside town has a population of approximately 4,500 residents.
And though it’s a small town, there is so much to do that you could easily spend forever exploring all that the town has to offer.

As the crown jewel of Whiting, you’ll love strolling along the Whiting Lakefront Park. It boasts a pier, walking/biking trails, pavilions, a boat launch, as well as incredible views of the stunning Chicago skyline.

The park is also a hub for various water events throughout the year, and it’s home to Whihala Beach featuring a floating waterpark. The beach is an oasis for warm weather fun.
