The family-owned restaurant ,Ole Biloxi Schooner has been in operation for decades. In that time, it has become known for serving amazing seafood, but that’s not all. Most employees and several customers have seen and heard some strange things within the restaurant’s walls.
Ole Biloxi Schooner opened in its first location in December of 1983; however, that building was wiped out by Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
About six months before Katrina, the restaurant’s owner, Joseph Lancon, was out running errands and ran out of gas at 871 Howard Avenue in Biloxi, which just so happened to be for sale.
Lancon almost immediately began renovations on the building, at which time he experienced something strange. While working alone late one night, he heard some whispering.
Over time, employees heard strange whispers as well, but that’s not all. A phantom diner has been seen by waitresses, customers saw crackers move across the table and crash to the floor, and the ghost of a woman in a gown has been seen walking in the restaurant.
The restaurant’s signature items are seafood gumbo and a crab meat and cheese po’boy, which may sound strange but has turned out to be a customer favorite.
