- Skyeview Alpaca Farm (New London): Established in 1992, this lovely farm became the first alpaca farm in the state. Stop by in the mornings from about 8:00 a.m. to noon for a free tour and meet the colorful Huacayas and Suris in their cool environment. Visit the Fiber and Farm shop for warm woolen mittens, sweaters, and hats. - Emery Farm (Durham): Did you know this is the oldest family farm in the country? The working farm has been in the same family since 1660. Sign up for an educational program, and while you're there, shop at the Market and Café for a drink, snack, or some farm-grown produce. Look out for seasonal events including the fall which brings cider donuts, pumpkins, and apples!
- Laromay Lavender Farm (Hollis): For more than 16 years, the farmers here have been planting more and more pretty plants. Now the farm contains approximately 2,000 lavender plants of different varieties, each one having a different medicinal purpose. These pesticide- and herbicide-free plants are hand-weeded. Customers can pick their own lavender from mid-June through early August. And look for an open-house event usually hosted in the summer for folks to learn about the farm.
