South Carolina is a beautiful place with many wondrous things to see and experience. If you feel like getting outdoors then go on a sight-seeing treasure hunt of marvels located throughout the Palmetto State. Nine of them are listed here. 1. The untouched beauty of Botany Bay.
Along the coast of Edisto Island there exists a place so untouched by man it feels a little like paradise. It's called Botany Bay and the road getting there is almost as spectacular. 1066 Botany Bay Rd, Edisto Island, SC 29438
Editor's Note: Since the original publication of this article the footbridge that provided for beach access at Botany Bay was wiped out by Hurricane Matthew in October 2016. Before heading to Botany Bay WMA with the intentions of heading to the beach, call the guard house to make sure access is available. Their number is (843) 869-2713.
2. A gigantic marvel known as the Angel Oak Tree (Johns Island).

3. The Poinsett Bridge in Greenville County.
The 120-foot-span of the Pointsett Bridge was built in 1820 and has an amazing archway where the water from the Little Gap Creek flows through. The bridge was closed to traffic in the mid 1900s, but remains a landmark worthy of this list of "marvels." Callahan Mountain Rd, Landrum, SC 29356
4. Table Rock in Pickens County.
From the comfort of your car while driving on the Cherokee Foothills Scenic Highway (a.k.a. South Carolina 11) you can gawk at this massive wonder lurking high above the roadway and reaching for the stars. 158 Ellison Ln, South Carolina 29671
5. Congaree National Park in Hopkins, SC.
These giant trees can be found in South Carolina in Congaree National Park, 26,000+ acres of park and swamp with ample trails for exploration. 100 National Park Rd, Hopkins, SC 29061
6. Pearl Fryar and his Garden.
Over in Bishopville there's a garden like no other you've ever seen. What started as a hobby for Pearl Fryar has grown into so much more. In additional to delightfully inventive topiary designs, this garden also boasts unique plants and flowers and one-of-a-kind original sculptures. 145 Broad Acres Rd, Bishopville, SC 29010
7. Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge connecting Charleston to Mt. Pleasant.
The third longest cable-stayed bridge in the Western Hemisphere took 4 long years to build. It opened in 2005 and has become a "destination experience" in the Lowcountry. VIDEO This natural marvel is an explorer's paradise. The trail follows a little creek, you'll pass by one of the few above ground caves in the state, and a waterfall before reaching the summit of this natural wonder. 9. Atalaya Castle at Huntington Beach State Park.
This 30-room castle fit for a king was built as a second home for the Huntingtons. It was completed in 1933.
