9 Marvels In South Carolina That Must Be Seen To Be Believed

South Carolina is a beautiful place with many wondrous things to see and experience. If you feel like getting outdoors then go on a sight-seeing treasure hunt of marvels located throughout the Palmetto State. Nine of them are listed here. Along the coast of Edisto Island there exists a place so untouched by man it feels a little like paradise. It's called Botany Bay and the road getting there is almost as spectacular.

Possibly the oldest oak tree east of the Mississippi. The majestic Angel Oak has withstood hurricanes, earthquakes and many a drought in her 1500 or so years.

The 120-foot-span of the Pointsett Bridge was built in 1820 and has an amazing archway where the water from the Little Gap Creek flows through. The bridge was closed to traffic in the mid 1900s, but remains a landmark worthy of this list of "marvels."

The third longest cable-stayed bridge in the Western Hemisphere took 4 long years to build. It opened in 2005 and has become a "destination experience" in the Lowcountry.

8. Forty Acre Rock in Lancaster County.
This natural marvel is an explorer's paradise. The trail follows a little creek, you'll pass by one of the few above ground caves in the state, and a waterfall before reaching the summit of this natural wonder.
