It seems as though schools and classrooms have been a hot button issue here in Kansas… while this isn’t a political website by any means, I am still going to give my two cents: From here on out, all classes should be held outside! Why, you ask? Well, for starters, Kansas is truly the world’s ultimate outdoor classroom. Here is why:
1. When it comes to fascinating geographic locations, there is nowhere quite like the Gypsum Hills...
Located near Medicine Lodge.
2. ...Arikaree Breaks...
Located in Cheyenne County.
3. ...or, of course, the geographic center of the contiguous United States.
Which just so happens to be in our very own Lebanon!
4. History time? Then it's onto the El Quartelejo Ruins...
Located in Scott City.
5. ...Hollenberg Pony Express Station...
Located in Hanover.
6. ...or Coronado Heights.
Located in Lindsborg.
7. Art time? I thought you'd never ask!
The Garden of Eden is located in Lucas.
8. Ecology = Maxwell Wildlife Refuge.
Located near Canton.
9. Botany? Take your pick between Cimarron National Grassland...
Located in Elkhart.
10. ...or Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve.
Located in Strong City.
11. Since schools typically require some sort of P.E., it's time to get out and hike the Konza Prairie!
Located in Manhattan.
12. Finally, since geology rocks, we best make a trip to see marvelous Monument Rocks...
Located in Grinnell.
13. ...Castle Rock...
Located near Quinter.
14. ...and/or Mushroom Rock State Park.
Located in Brookville.
