Delaware has a fine selection of restaurants – from the expensive fancy ones on the water, to the dive in your town that nobody knows about where you can get an entire week’s worth of food for $2.50. In trying to save our readers some dough (and not expose those itty-bitty holes-in-the-wall…yet), we’ve decided to round up 10 places you can eat in Delaware for less than $10. Whether you’re a student in Newark trying to break away from your usual Ramen and Beef-a-Roni, or you work downtown and want to grab lunch without stretching your budget, you’ll find a great deal and great food at the following restaurants.
Almost everything on the menu at this hidden gem in Dover is under $10 - and the two things that aren't are $10.99 and $12.99, so no matter what your tastes are, you'll find something in your budget here. Don't let the prices fool you, though, El Nopal has some of the best Mexican food in Dover, hands down!
Perucho's makes the best Pollo a la Brasa (rotisserie chicken) in the world, I think. They marinate it for 24 hours in a delicious mix of more than a dozen Peruvian spices and it comes with this spicy dipping sauce (Aji) that you'll want to drink on its own - seriously. I was stunned when the half chicken meal (that comes with two sides!) only cost $8.99. There are plenty of other dishes on the menu under $10 - a grilled chicken salad made with the same delicious flavor for $9.99, and gigantic burrito bowls under $9. Definitely give this place a try.
Everything on El Diablo's menu is under $10, so you're sure to find something you love! They've got three locations - two in Wilmington and one on Main Street in Newark. Obviously, their burritos are incredible, but their make-your-own tacos are my favorite thing on the menu. The short rib is mouthwatering.
You've never had Southeast Asian food as delicious as this little restaurant in Wilmington makes it. You can order dozens of dishes for less than $10 and they all come in generous portions and incredible flavors. It's a great place for take out on your way home from work, or to stop in for lunch when you're in Trolley Square.
This place is pretty straightforward - Gyros and Kebabs, along with other Halal food. It's cheap (almost everything on the menu is under $10) and it's delicious - a definite go-to for anyone in Newark looking for kebabs.
Clayton's tallest building is also the hottest spot for breakfast, lunch, and unexpected dinner specials with live entertainment. You really get the whole package at the Young Bean! Their panini's are always fresh and tasty, and their going price is under $7. How can you beat that? Pastries and bakery items are mostly under $4, too, so if you're looking for a small bite, you'll be super happy if you choose The Young Bean.
With plenty of seafood bites on their menu for under $8 and nine different sandwiches under $10, Pleasanton's is a great place to stop for fresh, delicious seafood on a dime.
The dumplings at Hong Kong in Seaford are out of this world, and like a lot of great local Chinese restaurants, nearly everything on the menu is less than $10. Absolutely try this place next time you're in Seaford!
You've got to try this local sandwich shop in Georgetown. Patty's Paninis are the BEST! You can get a huge sandwich for less than $10, and have half left over for the next day. What a great deal!
My favorite thing on the menu at this little-known Malaysian restaurant is the Mango Chicken Salad, which is one of the 12 Starters under $10. Trust me, the portions are huge, and this is a great deal. They've got great stir fry under $10, as well as huge noodle dishes that come in under $10, and rice dishes under $8. One of the best bargains in Wilmington!
There you have it – the best deals on meals in Delaware. We hope we’ve helped you kick your lunch selections up a notch, or given you a great idea for your next dinner out. Let us know how you’ve enjoyed these places, once you’ve tried them.
