My name is Chris Dodge and I live right here in the great state of Tennessee. My family and I are full adventurers filled with passion to see the amazing things our state has to offer. We are avid hikers and have explored many different places in Tennessee and beyond but we are always thankful to be living in such a glorious state.
We love to showcase some of the most exquisite views and unique places here in Maine. From glorious overlooks to hidden gems, we just love exploring our state and showing off the wonderful beauty that can be found. Today, we want to highlight a hidden gem you might not have ever heard about. Jasper Beach in Machiasport, Maine, is a lovely beach but it’s not quite the sandy seashore you might expect. It is every bit as much about what you hear when you visit this beach then what you might see.
Jasper Beach sits along the Atlantic Coastline, about an hour and 45 minutes northeast of Bar Harbor.
Because Arcadia National Park is the primary destination for many visitors to Maine, this side of our state might not see quite as many tourists, but it is still worth the drive.
The first thing you will notice as you step onto the beach is the complete lack of sand.
That's because you won't find a speck of it here - this is a rare pebble beach. That alone makes Jasper Beach stand out, as we are accustomed to having either rocky coastlines or soft sand beaches here in Maine. Jasper Beach is wholly different, but that isn’t even the best part.

The rocks on the beach are smooth after being tumbled by the rough Atlantic waters.
These stones are unlike anything else, and they are the key to why this beach is worth seeking out. As the tide comes in the rocks are moved by the waves, and as the ocean rhythmically pulls out, you will hear the most magical sound. The rocks tumble over each other creating a soothing symphony that is music to the ears.
Many people have come to collect rocks and gather them in patterns leaving their own mark on this unique beach. Although you are not allowed to take the rocks home, you can use them while you are there.
We simply love the creativity that nature's beauty inspires, and we think you will love it too.
Jasper Beach in Machiasport, Maine, is a one-of-a-kind beach and well worth a visit. The soothing sound of the rocks tumbling in from the cold ocean water is a sound unlike anywhere else, and we highly recommend you spend some time on this wonderful beach. Have you ever been to this beach before and heard the tranquil sound that the ocean waves will bring? Let us know in the comments below!
The town of Machias actually has a waterfall right in town that is worth checking out whenever you are traveling to Jasper Beach.
