Samuel's Sweet Shop opened in 1994. The original owner was Ira Gutner. He named his store after his late uncle, Sam, who always gave him candy when he was a child.

Ira passed away suddenly in 2004 and the future of Samuel's Sweet Shop was uncertain, but three local families bought it and kept it going.

Today, Samuel's Sweet Shop is owned by long-time employee John Traver, director Andy Ostroy, actress Hilarie Burton, actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and actor Paul Rudd and his wife Julie.
It's a good thing this place survived, because it's pretty amazing. This case is full of homemade sweets and treats.
