All the way back in 1947, a small grocery store opened its doors in the Mountain State: the West Virginia Grocery. Housed in the former A.P. Wood Grocery, this new market was owned by father and son team John Genadopoulus and Adamantios Tommy Balasis. Now, more than half a century later, this time-honored grocery store still faithfully serves its local community, as does the restaurant that now shares space inside this historic building — Ya’sou Restaurant in Kimball, West Virginia, still owned and operated by John Genadopoulus’s granddaughter, Markella Gianato.
Ya’sou Restaurant can be found on the web or on Facebook. And to top it all off, Hatfield-McCoy Trail passes are sold here, too, meaning that after you eat at this legendary restaurant, you can ride the area’s legendary trails!
