Well over a century ago, in 1866, a racetrack was built on Wheeling Island. It was a racetrack for horses, a racetrack for thoroughbred and harness racing.
Since then, Wheeling Island has seen many changes and additions until it has become what it is today: one of the largest tourist attractions in West Virginia.
It still boasts a racetrack, but now, greyhound dogs race along its lengths instead of horses. Also new since the 1860s, a full-service, recently remodeled, 151-room, adults-only hotel and resort stands proudly near the track.
Inside this massive complex, open to guests aged 21 years old and older only, patrons can book comfortable King or Double Queen rooms or suites.
They can enjoy multiple restaurants, both fine and casual.
There's also a massive casino here on Wheeling Island, boasting gaming, including video lottery terminals, table games, slot machines, multi-lined games, reel games, concerts, a gift shop, and more.
More than two million guests pass through Wheeling Island Hotel-Casino-Racetrack annually, coming here to rest, relax, eat, and enjoy themselves at games, races, concerts, and other events. Have you ever been?
