The itty-bitty town of Dwight, Nebraska – population 200, give or take a handful – looks like a lot of other little Nebraska towns. And, like other little Nebraska towns, this one has a down-home, old-fashioned restaurant where folks gather for delicious food, good conversation, and a feeling of community. Cy’s Cafe is so old-fashioned that you won’t find it anywhere online, and the food is just so delicious that you’ll quickly become a return visitor.
Cy's Cafe is tucked into the Bohemian Alps, a cluster of small villages near Nebraska's eastern border.
Most of the time, Cy's serves a small menu consisting of burgers, chicken strips, fries, and similar items. But on Wednesday night, you can come in for the Czech Special: sauerkraut, dumplings, pork, and mashed potatoes with gravy. It's stick-to-your-ribs food, just like your Czech grandma used to make.
When you visit, be sure to bring cash. Cy's Cafe doesn't accept credit or debit cards.
You can’t visit Cy’s Cafe online, but you can (and should!) visit the old-fashioned restaurant in person at the address below. Have you ever eaten at this delightful small-town restaurant? What’s your favorite menu item? Share your thoughts in the comments!
