If you’re looking for a fun place to spend a morning, an afternoon, or even all day with your kids, then you’ll love this brand new New York attraction! The Bronx Children’s Museum just opened at the beginning of December 2022 after many years of planning and fundraising. Located in the South Bronx on the banks of the Harlem River, this 13,650-square-foot space is full of fun and educational exhibits and activities that the whole family will love. Read on to learn more about it!
This museum is amazing! It was a long time coming. The Bronx Children's Museum had its beginnings way back in 2005.
Museum programming began in 2010. Since then, the organization has served 125,000 children and families at 611 different community events and 103 educational institutions through outreach programs.
The museum focuses on serving children from infancy through fourth grade. There are 190,000 children under the age of 9 living in the Bronx, but until now, there was no museum facility for them to enjoy.
Although the museum organization has been serving these children locally for many years, the long-awaited opening of the museum building in December of 2022 is exciting for all - locals and distant visitors alike.
For starters, there's a 35-foot-long water table that is designed to mimic the water flow of local waterways like the Bronx River, the Harlem River, and Orchard Beach.
This museum really celebrates local culture. Don't be surprised if the book is read by a local author who wrote it, or if an art project in the art studio is lead by a local artist!
The Bronx Children's Museum is a great place for you and your children to connect, have fun together, and make memories.
The Bronx Children’s Museum is amazing! It was certainly worth the wait. This museum is very close to Yankee Stadium, so you might consider visiting the museum in the morning and then attending an afternoon or evening game. Your whole family will have a great time here. Plan your visit today!
