In the center of Wisconsin, there’s an awesome winter experience that awaits snow lovers. Nordic Mountain is the perfect Wisconsin family destination – it has a tubing run that’s second to none and its Central Wisconsin location means it’s an easy drive from much of the state. Put on some warm clothes and get ready to wear a big smile. Here’s what’s waiting for you at Nordic Mountain.
Nordic Mountain is located in Wild Rose, a community in Waushara County. It’s only about a two-hour drive from Milwaukee and it’s an even shorter drive from places like Oshkosh and Fond du Lac. You can spend less time in the car and more time skiing!
The resort was founded in the 1970s and it’s a small resort – that’s part of the charm. It’s an easy place to enjoy skiing and tubing, and it’s the perfect place for families with kids.
The hill is surprisingly large for Central Wisconsin, with 265 feet of vertical. It has 18 ski runs, from easy to black diamond. It also has three terrain parks, and 16 runs that are lit for night skiing.
The tubing park was added to the mountain in 2006 and it’s an absolute blast. The number of lanes vary by the season, but there will be anywhere form 5 to more than 10 lanes waiting for your tube.
All you need to do to enjoy a run is hang on and get ready for some fun. The tubing chutes drop over 100 feet and they take tubes on speeds of up to 40 miles per hour!
At the end of the run, a tubing lift will take you and your tube back to the top. If you can pry yourself off the hill, you can grab a beverage and a bite to eat at Nordy’s Pub – it’s a rustic spot and it has some great pizza! Learn more on the Nordic Mountain website. There’s a lot to experience this winter in Wisconsin. Here are some unforgettable places you should visit.
