Tuscumbia, which happens to be the county seat of Colbert County, Alabama, is one of the state's most charming small towns. It's also home to Ivy Green: The Birthplace of Helen Keller (pictured). Each June, the annual Helen Keller Festival is held in Tuscumbia.
7. Dauphin Island - July
Dauphin Island is located in Mobile County and is nicknamed the "Sunset Capital of Alabama." It's also the southernmost point of the state and is a great place to spend a summer vacation.

Guntersville is the county seat of Marshall County, Alabama. It's also home to Lake Guntersville (pictured), the state's largest lake. Over the years, Lake Guntersville has become one of Alabama's most popular summer gathering spots.

Bayou La Batre is a small fishing village in Mobile County that's also known as the "Seafood Capital of Alabama." It's a charming place to spend an afternoon.
10. Monroeville - October

Monroeville is nicknamed "The Literary Capital of Alabama" because it's the town where many famous writers and authors are from, including Harper Lee. The town's main attraction is the Old Monroe County Courthouse (pictured) because it was used as the model for the "To Kill a Mockingbird" courthouse scenes in the film adaptation of Lee's award-winning novel of the same name.
11. Woodville - November
Located in Jackson County, Alabama, Woodville is home to Cathedral Caverns, the main attraction at Cathedral Caverns State Park. Cathedral Caverns is known for having one of the world's largest cave entrances.
12. Childersburg - December
With a history dating all the way back to 1540, Childersburg, Alabama is supposedly the oldest continuously occupied city in America. However, it wasn't incorporated until 1889.
