There are a number of unique roadside attractions in Arizona, from a tipi motel to the elusive and mysterious “The Thing” that you have to see to believe. Perhaps the quirkiest of them all is a rock, aptly named “Coffee Pot Rock” that’s shaped like – you guessed it – a coffee pot! The resemblance is truly uncanny.
Many of Sedona's world-famous red rocks are named after what they resemble: Bell Rock, Cathedral Rock, and Snoopy Rock, just to name a few.
One rock that doesn't get nearly the same amount of attention, however, is Coffee Pot Rock. Located on the west side of town right off of Arizona State Route 89A, this underrated landmark looks uncannily similar to its namesake.
Resembling a percolator-style coffeepot (spout and all!), the rock is visible from all over Sedona. It's actually the highest point in town, standing tall and proud at an impressive 5,600 feet.
You can simply drive around and admire Coffee Pot Rock from all different angles, or get an up close and personal view by embarking on a scenic hike. If opting for the latter, you'll find the trailhead on Coffee Pot Drive.
There are several different trails in the area that provide views of the rock, one of the easiest being Teacup Trail to Coffee Pot Rock. A 2.7-mile loop, the trail passes directly underneath the rock - you may even spot Chimney Rock (and perhaps even Cathedral Rock) in the distance!
Known for its extensive breakfast menu, this popular joint is located in the shadow of Coffee Pot Rock, hence its name. Chow down on a burger, traditional Southwestern fare, eggs benedict, and, of course, a cup of coffee or two.
