One of the first Victorian homes on the tour is the Foreman Roberts House, also recognized as the oldest surviving house in Carson City today! The tour will meet behind it at the Carriage house. There will be light refreshments and live holiday music performed by Joyful Noise Children’s Choir.
The tour will even include a docent who will portray Annie Roberts, the home’s former matriarch. The pretty yellow Foreman Roberts House is a town favorite as well as a museum. It has been around since 1859 and is an example of Gothic Revival-style architecture.
Another impressive location visited by the Victorian Christmas Tour is the impressive Bliss Mansion. You’ll understand its name the moment you lay your eyes on the twinkling holiday lights and feel its holiday cheer!
Bliss Mansion is located across from the Governor Mansion in Carson City. This 1879 prominent home was built by Duane L. Bliss who sold lumber and invested in railroads. Bliss Mansion encompasses 8,500 square feet and was the very first home in the state piped for gas lighting.
Also included in the tour is the Bank Saloon on Carson Street. This 1899 building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as it is considered the longest running bar in Carson City, even despite the Prohibition Era!
It is rumored to have seen many famous and influential people walk through its doors, especially given its prime location right across from the Nevada State Capital.
And finally, the Victorian Christmas Tour will include the First United Methodist Church Carson. It is one of two religious buildings included in the tour.
