Snow and bitter cold often mean finding ways to keep busy and have fun indoors during a typical Pennsylvania winter. However, Pennsylvanians aren’t ones for letting the cold get in the way of a little outdoor fun, too, and we have quite a few winter festivals to visit all season long. One of the most magical, however, might just be this fire and ice festival in Pennsylvania.
Prehistoric creatures will be seen all over town during the 28th edition of the Fire & Ice Festival in Uptown Somerset, slated for January 13-15, 2023.
Sporting a Jurassic Somerset theme, the annual ice festival promises to set the imaginations of both the young and the young at heart on fire. The highlight of the festival is, of course, the ice sculptures.
Each year features a new and fun theme. The 2022 theme, for example, was winter carnival.

More than 40 ice sculptures will decorate Somerset's sidewalks. You can even grab a cup of hot chocolate and watch artists transform blocks of ice into masterpieces.
If you think ice sculptures look cool, wait until the kiddos zip down a slide carved from ice. That's just the beginning of the family-friendly fun that's planned.
The festival features entertainment, fire shows, and ice games. Show off your cooking skills by entering the chili cook-off, and join others in the Fire & Ice 5K run.
