I am a nature lover and self-proclaimed foodie wrapped in one package. In my previous life, I was an Accountant, but numbers were boring and writing is the only thing that fuels my soul. So, I write because it's my freedom...it brings me joy. When I'm not writing dope articles for OnlyInYourState, I am writing and editing articles for my online blog on Medium.com. Or, when I get the chance, I am off on a trip with my family chasing waterfalls, or simply exploring the great outdoors. My mantra is to always find the best part of every day and bask in it.
Perhaps you’ve read our previous article about the Indian Creek Trail at the Buffalo National River. But did you know that part of that trail is hiding a dark and terrifying secret? The Eye of the Needle is a jaw-dropping rock formation that looks like its namesake, and several people have died attempting to see it. Despite the trail being one of the most scenic treks inside the national park, it is also one of the most dangerous trails in Arkansas. And it attracts thousands of thrill seekers every year.
Whenever you set off on a hike, it’s important that you understand the landscape of the area as well as its difficulty level.
And the Eye of the Needle hike is considered difficult especially during the rainy season. The Eye of the Needle is a rock formation located along the 4-mile Indian Creek Trail.
The trail is filled with tons of natural wonders. They include flowing creeks, spectacular waterfalls, breathtaking overlooks, towering bluffs, jaw-dropping rock formations, and so much more.
You’ll be awestruck by the immense beauty that surrounds you as you trek this dangerous trail. But for some daredevil hikers, the rewards certainly outweigh the risks.
Additionally, in order to get to the eye, you must also crawl through a tunnel at the edge of a bluff.
In this area, you can witness the gorgeous vistas of the park. But what some of you might not know is that many experienced hikers have fallen to their deaths attempting to see the infamous eye.
In fact, in May of 2022, there was a hiker who slipped and fell and tragically lost his life.
