It is no secret that Utah is a nature lover’s paradise. With some of the busiest national parks in the country and a long list of incredible state parks, there is never a shortage of outdoor activities in our great state. However, when you want to get away from the crowds and just enjoy a little time in nature, we highly suggest going someplace a little different — the Ogden Nature Center.
The Ogden Nature Center is a 152-acre preserve that is not too far from I-15.
Established in 1975, this was the first nature center in Utah, and it offers something for everyone. From walking trails to various educational programs, it’s one place that nature explorers of all ages will love.
When you first arrive at the Ogden Nature Center, stop by the Visitor Center near the main entrance. Here, you can learn a little more about this little-known nature center and some of the activities it offers.
Come prepared to climb up the observation towers or into the treehouses to give you a different vantage point at this nature center. These are not only excellent areas to see even more animals, but you can capture incredible views of the nearby mountains as well.
There are also many unique and exciting exhibits all throughout the Ogden Nature Center. Check out the human-size mouse hole, get up close to native birds of prey, and even climb through the human-size bear den — adults and children will love these areas of the center.
If you bring young children along, make sure to stop by the LS Peery Nature Nook Natural Playground. This is a natural playground with all types of structures, tunnels, and more that are just waiting to be explored.
You’d never know this hidden gem is hiding near I-15 and in the heart of Ogden. It’s the perfect way for Utah explorers to get into nature without leaving the city. When are you going to visit?
