Many people know of the beautiful white quartz beaches stretching for miles along the Alabama coastline. But The Cotton State has beautiful beaches along the coasts of their many lakes as well. And with a nearby amphitheater, the D.A.R.E. Power Park Beach is a hidden gem beach in Alabama that could be the perfect spot for your family’s next big get-together.
D.A.R.E. Power Park is located on the eastern side of Lake Martin. It’s a short drive to such a relaxing destination.
Only six miles west of Dadeville, the beach is close enough to civilization to be convenient but far enough that it doesn’t draw huge crowds.
So if you’re planning a family gathering you won’t have to worry about losing your relatives in a sea of people.
The name of the lake actually came from a winning entry to a contest held between four Tallapoosa County Schools.
The beach offers facilities. There are restrooms and picnic benches nearby along with barbecue grills and two separate fishing piers.
Close by is an amphitheater that is quite a special treat. It’s the perfect place for a wedding or other personal ceremonies.
And there’s much more to do than just swimming here. If you get tired of playing in the sand or swimming in Lake Martin, you could bring the kids to play on the awesome playground or hike the Holly Hills trail nearby.
If you have the equipment, use the boat ramp to take your family on some aquatic adventures.
From May 1st to Memorial Day, the park is only open on Saturdays and Sundays. After Memorial Day it opens daily, until Labor Day. The park's hours are 9 a.m. until 8 p.m.
There are also pavilions to gather under. These pavilions can be reserved, so if you want to guarantee that you have a shaded place for your family get-together, you should make sure and reserve your spot early.
