First on the list is none other than the main trail out at Great River Bluffs State Park. 3.8 miles of easy hiking with entertaining elevation gains will have your inner explorer keeping an eye out for anything interesting. Speaking of interesting, there are plenty of wildflowers, native wildlife, and rock formations to feast your eyes on. Out of the trees is an overlook that frames a ledge sticking out over the rest of the scenery, like mother nature's shoulder.

Next on the list is a pretty little 2.5-mile loop you'll find out at Banning State Park. Full of rock formations and abandoned buildings, you can see where man and nature both built something that has since broken. Time changes all, and exploring these trails is just part of the adventure.

For birding and rock formations at the same time, Hawk Ridge Bird Observatory has a 4.6-mile loop trail that will give you about two hours of good fun. Between a rock and a hard place is sometimes somewhere beautiful.

Out in Red Wing, a feature along the Mississippi River known as Barn Bluff is an excellent source of natural beauty. These two trails combined run through the whole area, with plenty of overlooks and rocky areas to enjoy once you make your way up the hill.

Another trail out in Banning State Park to note is Wolf Creek Falls Trail. Though it's only a half-hour hike of 1.5 miles, you'll find that it's just as beautiful as the rest of the park.
