The proprietors have been involved in 4-H programs for years and have owned numerous animals over the years, hence the word "menagerie" in the name of their business. Their focus is on the responsible treatment of animals, their land, and the environment, in the process educating others on the importance of sustainability.

Alpacas are very beautiful and gentle animals. Possessing slender bodies, they have soft fleece that covers most of their body. Contrary to common belief, they are not miniature versions of llamas, and there are two different breeds - Suri and Haucaya.

Folks come from all over the Northern California region and further afield for an alpaca farm day trip where they can touch and feed these creatures.
