Tori Jane is a storm chaser, writer, photographer, and the village idiot - in that order. When she's not out and about dancing with the meanest storms on planet Earth for funsies she can be found wandering, shooting landscapes, writing, editing photos, and otherwise up to no good. Legend has it that she can also be occasionally spotted typing up short bios in the third person, but those rumors are unsubstantiated.
Pokagon State Park is easily one of the most beautiful state parks in Indiana. It’s open all year round, and no matter when you arrive, it’s a great time to be there. Did you know that until the end of summer you can explore Pokagon State Park in an entirely new way? That’s right – you can check it out on the trails on foot or, better still, on horseback. If you’re looking for new places to go horseback riding in Indiana, you can’t miss these unique summer tours of Pokagon State Park:
Pokagon State Park is located in Steuben County and takes up about 1,260 acres.
It's astonishingly beautiful, filled to the brim with plenty of trees, brilliant foliage, wildflowers, and so much more. It's one of our favorite scenic parks in Indiana, and you're going to love these amazing horseback tours we just found out about.
How are we JUST finding out about these? We don't know, but we're glad we did!
You can tour some of the most beautiful trails at Pokagon State Park by horseback on a 45-minute guided ride, which you can make reservations for (STRONGLY recommended) at the barn. You can call ahead to reserve your spot, but you'll have to show up at the barn an hour early anyway to pay for the adventure. Might as well make the reservations in person!

The park asks that reservations are made for the same day only, so arrive early to make sure you get in.
Once you're on the trail, you'll be transported to another world - a world full of emerald green trees, stunning woodlands, a beautiful lake, and so much more.
Steuben County is easily one of our favorite parts of the Hoosier State, and we're thrilled that we have the opportunity to explore it in such a wonderful way!
There's something that's super relaxing about horseback riding, so it's a special honor to explore nature's wonders this way. Of course, you might be sore tomorrow - but it'll be worth it, we promise.
Trail rides are just $30 per person, and each rider must be eight years old or older. Do keep in mind there's a weight limit of 250 to ride the horses.
Every so often, the barn will close due to adverse weather, so be sure to call the kind folks there if it's raining or snowing to make sure the tours are still ongoing.
